2001 – 2004: The Artist’s Process
In 2001, Alden turned from acting as a career to the visual arts. This important shift represented not only a career change but, more importantly, a refocus of personal purpose and perspective. As an actor, Alden had immersed herself in the role of whomever she was playing. She began to seek more spontaneous and personal avenues of artistic creation. Alden’s entrée into the visual arts began with her own personal exploration across mediums accented by formal studies at the Art Students League in New York. Her mentor at the Art Students League encouraged her to persevere on her own path, inspired by her intuition. She embarked on a journey of voracious, tactile and visceral exploration across various mediums.
